On the night of 25 November 2010, Fulani Muslim guerrilla bandits stormed Kwata Zawan community, one of the new settlements near Jos, Plateau State, leaving 3 dead and one hospitalized.
Residents were angry at the refusal of security to come to their aid, and booed them out of the community.
This attack illustrates how the perpetrators are changing their tactics to outwit the high level of security that was put in place to calm the situation over Jos. Instead of coming from within a mixed community, bandits now make a quick strike on majority ethnic settlements from outside and retreat, causing maximum impact and suggesting no local involvement.

This has changed the local demography. Muslims have moved from predominately mixed settlements to segregated settlements where other ethnic groups have already been hounded out.
The pictures show something of the brutality of the attacks, and a community in grief.
Stefanos helps victims of violence as much as funds allow, so check us out and ask whether you might feel able to join us in bringing aid to those caught up in violence in many of Nigeria's troubled Northern states.
