Pleading not guilty to a three count charge of illegal act of terrorism and the possession of illegal guns without valid license, an act punishable by a two year imprisonment, a fine of N2000 or both, the matter went into trial and adoption of final written addresses.
Sentencing those guilty to 10 years’ imprisonment, Justice Ambrose Allagua noted that several people were killed and maimed in the Jos crisis which had caused national concern and grief and embarrassment in the international community.
We are relieved that justice has been upheld.
Meanwhile, Abubakar Ahmed and Zakar Ahmed who were arrested on 8 March, 2010 and charged with unlawful assembly, conspiracy to cause felony, an act of terrorism in the Dogon Na Hauwa killing have been set free following the inability of the prosecution to prove their case.
